New Forms Criteria for Black Belts
What is a Traditional Form?
The Traditional Divisions capture the essence of classic martial arts styles, showcasing the traditional techniques,
weapons and movements in their unmodifi ed form. Emphasis is placed on execution of technique, application
of technique, balance, speed, power, solid stances and focus. While modifi cation of traditional forms and weapons is allowed, those who stray from the traditional origins
of their base style may be subject to downgrading and/or
disqualifi cation pursuant to the NASKA rules.
What is a Creative Form?
The Creative Division allows modern martial arts techniques. Any move that involves more than a 360 degree spin, requires the body to be inverted more
than parallel to the floor or originates from gymnastics and/
or non martial arts disciplines is strictly prohibited in the
Creative Division.
What is an Extreme Form?
The Extreme Divisions allow the competitor to perform any moves whether they
originate from martial arts or not. This category allows for the integration of techniques and movements from martial art styles, gymnastics, acrobatics, dance and athletic disciplines.
